Power School Parent Portal Security Improvements |

Due to a security enhancement within the Parent Portal, parents and students may find their existing login information is no longer accurate. Additionally, users may have also received a login letter which showed the encrypted characters where the password should have been printed. This information, because it is scrambled characters, would not allow access.
To level the playing field and assist those that may have lost/forgotten their prior code, the district will reset ALL usernames and passwords for the portal. Letters will be given to each child the first week of school with the new username and password. With this information, parents will be able to create single sign-on accounts for all children and have the ability to reset passwords if forgotten.
I apologize for this inconvenience but this added security will allow for better account management by the parent/guardian.

Change to Power School Parent Portal |
After September 8th when your child is given the NEW login information, a new version of the Power School Parent Portal will become active. This will require parent/guardians to create a new login account. ** Existing STUDENT accounts will remain the same. This change is ONLY for parent/guardian accounts.** For this account, the user creates their own user name and password and will have the ability to make changes as needed. In order to create this new account, you will need the new Parent/Guardian Access ID and Access Password that is being sent home with your child. For parents with multiple children in the district, you will now only need ONE user account to view all children.
When visiting the Parent Portal all Parent/Guardian users will click Create an Account. Then you will see the following screen:

At the top, enter your own personal information. Please select a user name and password you will remember. Also, enter a valid email address as this will be used to reset your password should you forget it.
On the bottom - Link Students to Account - section, you will enter the login information you have been using to access the parent portal **This MUST be the Parent Access account information**. Enter the full first name and last name, current login ID, and current password. Next, select a relationship for that child.
Once complete, click enter.
Now when you login with the new information, you will see some changes to the main screen. First, if you have more than one child in the district, you will see a tab with each of their names. To view the individual information, click each tab. Secondly, you will now see an Account Preferences icon. Here you can change your login information.

WRHS Math Summer Assignment |
Dear Parents/Guardians:
This summer the Mathematics Department is not offering a mandatory mathematics packet. Instead, we are using Study Island to provide your student with voluntary enrichment review units for their mathematics course for the 2010-11 school year. Your student will be awarded extra credit for their efforts in the first marking period.
I strongly encourage students to take advantage of this preparation and get off to a great start in September. The units will focus on essential algebraic skills.
Your student simply needs to sign onto Study Island with their existing password and the appropriate problem sets for their upcoming course will be accessible. There will be a list of ten topics selected by their mathematics teacher for review and completion. Each topic will have a ten-item assessment to complete. Refer to the Study Island assignment link for more information.
If you have any questions, please give me a call at 201-939-0810.
Have a great summer!
Sincerely,
Thomas W. Corbo
